LEVELS TO WHICH I NEVER THOUGHT I’D STOOP:
Poring with fascination over junk mail
Watching the garbage truck pick up the trash
Fighting over who gets to make the bed
Dreamily perusing restaurant takeout menus
Searching the Derry News for the crossword
Forgetting when I last changed sweats
Baking cookies AGAIN
HEIGHTS TO WHICH I NEVER THOUGHT I’D SOAR:
Walking drenched through a rainstorm
Receiving toilet paper gifts from our new neighbor
Attending closely to birdsong
Checking daily progress of growing plants in the yard
Savoring a book I forgot I owned
Enjoying takeout with not a shred of guilt (it’s therapy)
Waking up with the thought, ‘There’s always tomorrow”
