There are so many kinds of love in our world. The love of a mother for her newborn, the love of parents for their kids, (even the 15 year olds!), the love of grandparents, falling in love…
But the love of Jesus is absolutely astounding. It never ceases to amaze me that He, who knows me inside and out, just keeps loving me. His Mercy is new every single morning. His Grace is fathomless and flows fresh to my heart. Little by little, I’m falling more and more in love with Him.
Sometimes I look in other places for the love that He alone can give. It is then that I feel empty and frustrated. He pulls me back to Him, He washes me once more in His precious blood. He reminds me that I was part of the joy that was set before Him when He endured the pain and humiliation of the Cross. He could see beyond the suffering to the day when He would hold His lovely Bride in His arms. And all of us who have trusted in Him are part of that Bride.
I’m reminded of a very old, very sweet little chorus….
“Then the Bride shall be presented to the glorious King of Kings
A multitude in sparkling white, with harp and voice that sings
Unto Him who has redeemed us, made us Kings and Priests to God
Round the Throne we’ll praise Him, and our theme will be the Blood.”
Amen! Even so, come quickly, my Lord, my King, lover of my soul!
