Is there a human being alive who doesn’t have a few?
“If only I had made that call…paused to think before sharing that opinion…ignored the urge to blow up…” on and on. Regrets can become instruments of torture in the hands of the Enemy. They can wake us in the middle of the night with endless “If Only’s”. We believers are not exempt. But we have Jesus. Is He big enough to deal with our regrets? Is the work of the Cross enough?
Yes! He can slay the giant that wakes us. His plans for us do not leave us in the Gerbil Cage of regret. The Holy Spirit is much smarter than we are, and He helps us when we ask. He is very creative. I once knew a woman who restored a relationship with her son by baking him a batch of his favorite chocolate chip cookies. Those cookies broke through years of anger and despair. Who would have imagined that? But God!
Don’t be afraid to face that giant of regret. Seek His wisdom. Brother James tells us that God has plenty of wisdom and is more than willing to share. And after all, wisdom is simply the knowledge of what to do next. Who knows what God might do?
James 1: 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
