How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts!
My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.
Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God. (Psalm 84 KJV)
Sometimes, the King James Version just scratches the itch. How amiable, how desirable, how utterly pleasing is the dwelling place of God. We tend to put off our enjoyment of those tabernacles to our future, but think of this. We believers, through the Cross of Jesus, have been given access to those tabernacles NOW! As Paul reminds us in Ephesians Chapter 2, we are seated with Christ in heavenly places. We are living in the Presence of our King, with those tiny sparrows and swallows, sheltered and protected, day and night. What a concept! Just think of it. The sparrows nest there, unafraid, swooping and gliding in the Glory of God. And Jesus told us that we are of more value than many sparrows. So if they are welcome here, how much more are you and I at home there, through the precious blood of Christ our risen King.
